Sally Elizabeth Dixon Stoner, 95, of Wichita Falls, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Palo Alto, California. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Sally was born on July 28, 1916 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Samuel Lee and Myrtle (Melton) Dixon. She grew up in Blooming Grove, Texas, and was Valedictorian of her High School graduating class. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, Texas, and later graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from North Texas State Teachers' College in Denton, Texas. She also received her Master of Arts in Education from Stanford University and was an Educator at Palo Alto, California Unified School District for many years.
On March 6, 1942, she married John Stoner, Jr. in Port Arthur, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2008. Sally and John were active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Palo Alto, California and after retirement enjoyed golfing and traveling all around the world. Sally was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Samuel Lee Dixon of Calexico, California and Elliott Barnes Dixon of Colorado City, Texas.

She is survived by her two children, Melinda Stevens of Wichita Falls and Dr. John Stoner, III and wife Marianne of Menlo Park, California; four grandchildren, Meg Bjordammen and husband Stephen of Wichita Falls, Francie Johnsen and husband Lance of Dallas, Kim Voldseth and husband Vance of Martinsdale, Montana, Chris Stoner and wife Julie of Falls Church, Virginia; and six great-grandsons, Peter, Eric, Will, Gavin, Tristan, and Brooks.

The family would like to thank the staff of House of Hope for all the love and care given to Sally during the past three years.
